History
Principal Engineer & Company President Scot Menzies started his career performing materials lab and field testing in Juneau as a teenager in the early 1980’s with R&M Consultants, Inc. In 1988, Scot began his work for the Alaska DEC's Ketchikan office as an Environmental Engineer working in regulation of water, wastewater, solid waste, air and water quality, and oil spills. In 1990, he joined R&M Engineering-Ketchikan, Inc. as a staff engineer and left in 2008, after serving as president and principal. At that time, he established his own firm in Ketchikan, Menzies Engineering Group.
With over 30 years of engineering and surveying experience in Ketchikan and Southeast Alaska, Menzies Engineering Group is able to provide for our clients’ needs and adjust to changes in scope, project, design and regulatory conditions. Our experience and knowledge of area climate, building, logistical and regulatory conditions allow us to maintain our projects’ progress under numerous challenges.

Scot Menzies, P.E., S.E., L.S.
Scot is a registered Alaska Civil Engineer, Structural Engineer, and Land Surveyor, with over 30 years of experience working in Alaska. He has been based in Ketchikan since 1988, when he was hired as an environmental engineer with the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation. Prior to that, from 1981 to 1985, he worked summers in Juneau as an engineering intern and materials testing technician for R&M Engineering, Inc. Scot is additionally a qualified materials testing technician (since 2007), concrete batch inspector (since 2010), and sanitary surveyor for public water systems (since 1993). He is the President of Menzies Engineering Group, Inc., which he formed in 2008.
